jolie laide

jolie laide

I started this when I lived in Brooklyn and struggled for grace in a city that grants moments of beauty and ugliness breathtakingly close to one another. Now I live in a place where things are a different kind of ugly and the beauty is pedestrian. I struggle with that.

I love that you're commenting on your own blog. I was about to say how much I love the orange's inside.

ah thanks! This guy got me because the light outside washed everything out but lit the traffic cone up from inside. One might think NYC is just full of traffic cones, but they have this project going on outside of my building that just never seems to end. Or start, really.

is it retarded to leave a comment? I realized that if I put it in as text, the snaps would not be juxtaposed the same and noone else would see them as I just had. (BTW, Dr S, your recent photos are so lovely, again, it makes me think about using the "real" camera...)

no, it's not retarded. I just thought it was funny, and kind of lovely, really.

thanks for the compliment about the pictures. I have a new one tonight that I like a bit, I think, but I can't do anything with it until I do my actual work.
