jolie laide

I started this when I lived in Brooklyn and struggled for grace in a city that grants moments of beauty and ugliness breathtakingly close to one another. Now I live in a place where things are a different kind of ugly and the beauty is pedestrian. I struggle with that.

Of late I keep wanting time to go faster, I keep pushing forward, and that really affects my ability to see interesting things. I know I need to slow down, I know I am losing things, but getting the balance right is a trial.

And more and more I think of the people on *that other site* as a bunch of croaking toads. That sounds so contemptuous. Oh dear.

Hooray for your candidacy! Woot!
