I started this when I lived in Brooklyn and struggled for grace in a city that grants moments of beauty and ugliness breathtakingly close to one another. Now I live in a place where things are a different kind of ugly and the beauty is pedestrian. I struggle with that.

I think these hinges are just the cat's pajamas. I am in love with them...helpless, starry-eyed. They are in the sidewalk in front of the firehouse next to my office. I guess there are 12 of them? But I don't count them, just let them tell me when they are ready for their close up.
i love your photoblogs...your eye is very architectural...you have a sense of materiality, structure, and connection that is very difficult to teach to my students. there is an obvious graphical compostition/understanding to how the pictures are taken, i am assuming a conscious decision, but regardless obtain a proportion and balance that makes me jealous.
